Body or paint damage: start with a body shop
For a dented panel, damaged bumper, scratched paint or a finish you want changed, contact a body shop. The work is on the car’s outer panels or painted finish. Augie’s lists dent, bumper, collision and paint work at its Pompano Beach shop.
Running, braking or steering concerns: contact a mechanical repair shop
If your concern is how the car runs, brakes or steers, contact a mechanical repair shop. A mark on a panel does not explain what is happening in those systems. Tell the shop what you notice so it can assess the problem; a photo or online description cannot establish the cause or whether the car is safe to drive.
Body shop, mechanic, or both?
Body and paint work and mechanical assessment call for different specialists. If you notice both kinds of concern after a collision, tell each shop about both. Ask what it can assess and whether another specialist should be involved.
| What you notice | Who to contact | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Dent, scratched paint or damaged bumper | Body shop | Panels, bumpers and finish are body and paint work. |
| Running problem, warning light, braking or steering concern | Mechanical repair shop | These concerns call for mechanical assessment. |
| Body damage plus a running, braking or steering concern after a collision | Both specialists may be needed | Body repair alone does not address every operating concern. |
Ask Augie’s about body and paint work
For visible body or finish damage, tell Augie’s what you see and what you want repaired. You can add photos to an estimate request, though the car may need a closer look before the work is clear. Augie’s is at 1411 S Dixie Hwy E in Pompano Beach.
